Bunnings’ focus on Indigenous procurement
Increasing the diversity of its supplier base is important to Bunnings. During the year, more than $6.4 million was paid to Indigenous suppliers, helping to contribute to reconciliation efforts and Indigenous employment outcomes.
Multhana Property Services is an Indigenous business based in South-East Queensland and is also a Supply Nation Certified Company that helps increase Indigenous participation in business while also creating positive and sustainable training and employment opportunities for the local Indigenous community.
Multhana began working with Bunnings in 2019 after approaching them as part of the Wesfarmers Reconciliation Action Plan which includes a focus on Indigenous procurement.
After commencing a commercial relationship with Bunnings, at the request of Multhana’s clients, Bunnings accredited Multhana’s team to install Kaboodle kitchens. This has provided further business and employment opportunities for Multhana and their growing team, which expanded from 20 to over 100 employees during the year.
