Industrial and Safety - People development
The Industrial and Safety businesses endeavour to provide opportunities for team members to enhance their job performance and develop their careers. Due to the restrictions in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, some training options were limited and could not progress as planned.
In February 2020, NZ Safety Blackwoods began its numeracy and literacy program within its distribution centres to support team members’ performance and safety. In March 2020, the Blackwoods Safety Academy launched. The Academy is a training program with 15 modules to build capability in safety products and solutions. It is a requirement for those in customer-facing roles and is optional for all other team members. Coregas committed to leveraging its learning platform to offer a wider range of learning and career opportunities. During the year, 417 new courses were released to Coregas team members.
At Greencap, all managers based in New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland participated in Blanchard Australia Leadership Training. NZ Safety Blackwoods focused on growing its leaders and rolled out frontline leadership (LEAP) training for an additional 16 managers. A modern slavery module was also rolled out in LEAP and has been completed by team members across the Industrial and Safety businesses.
Workwear Group made significant inroads with its people development projects. Additional LEAP modules were launched for all team members and people leaders took part in the Talent@Wesfarmers Leadership Insight series. The business commenced development of an enhanced Learning Management System, which offers customised training and improves compliance, technical and behavioural capability. In response to COVID-19, Thriving Through Change training sessions were held for all Workwear Group team members to enhance resilience and support people through this difficult time.
The Industrial and Safety businesses are committed to recommencing initiatives next year and continuing to deliver quality training and learning to increase team member capability.
