Kmart Group - Community

In the 2023 financial year, Kmart Group continued to work with local communities and charity partners to meet a diverse range of needs for families and team members. Kmart Group recognises the importance of its connection with communities and continued to support organisations and causes.

Kmart contributed $8 million and Target contributed almost $900,000 to charities and community groups during the year. 

Kmart  

Kmart’s support of Smiling Mind, The Reach Foundation and the Graeme Dingle Foundation (NZ), collectively raised more than $430,000 through customer and team member collections. Kmart’s sponsorship of the National Basketball League (NBL) Gametime also continued with 91,901 students participating in basketball clinics encouraging healthy living and team sports.

In the lead-up to Christmas, the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal collected more than 279,000 gifts and raised more than $375,000 across Australia and New Zealand, which was an increase from the previous year. Kmart team members and their families joined hospital volunteers to install the Kmart Christmas tree at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.

Internationally, Kmart continued to support the Salaam Baalak Trust in India and plans to extend local community support in the future.

Target 

More than $250,000 was raised in the financial year for Target’s new charity partnership with the Australian Childhood Foundation, highlighting Target’s commitment to supporting women and families. The funds raised by Target and its customers go to the charity’s Bringing Up Great Kids Program, which focuses on providing education and resources to vulnerable parents to help them raise happy and healthy children.
