Workwear Group's meaningful contribution to The Fred Hollows Foundation

NNT, a brand under Workwear Group, made an in-kind donation to The Fred Hollows Foundation's Indigenous Australia Program team during the year.

NNT provided 50 polo shirts featuring an Aboriginal design to support The Foundation's mission of delivering culturally appropriate eye care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The polo shirts showcase the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, alongside The Foundation’s logo.

The Fred Hollows Foundation, established in 1992 by the renowned eye surgeon Fred Hollows, is an international development organisation working towards a world in which no person is needlessly blind or vision impaired. It is estimated that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults are three times more likely to go blind, but 90 per cent of vision loss is preventable or treatable.

The Foundation’s work in Australia aims to put an end to these alarming figures by supporting increased investment in and access to culturally appropriate eye care services to remote and underserved Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Cultural safety is essential in addressing the eye care gap and creating a more inclusive healthcare system for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The inclusion of Aboriginal art on the polo shirts promotes cultural safety and invites conversation, strengthening the relationship between healthcare providers and patients.

The Fred Hollows Foundation’s Indigenous Australia Program team received the polo shirts in March 2023 and were proud to showcase them at their workshop in May 2023.
