Blackwoods and The Fred Hollows Foundation working to end avoidable blindness

Blackwoods and  The Fred Hollows Foundation have partnered to end avoidable blindness and improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples . As part of this partnership, Blackwoods launched an exclusive initiative with the foundation in 2018, co-branding its range of Prosafe Eye Safety products and donating 10 per cent of sales to the Fred Hollows Indigenous Australia Program.

The initiative resulted in a total donation of over $600,000 in FY2019 and directly assisted in providing approximately 2,600 eye treatments and more than 16,000 screenings in remote communities. The program grew at a rate of 4% between the 2018 and 2019 financial years, and has contributed to the appointment of Aboriginal Liaison Officers to support the program in the Northern Territory. Both organisations are committed to achieving the continued growth of this program, ensuring eye health remains a focus in Indigenous communities.
