During the year, Bunnings stores helped raise and contribute almost $50 million through over 90,000 community activities. Support for local community groups included provision of fundraising sausage sizzle facilities, team member involvement in community projects, product contributions and other local fundraising initiatives.

Highlights and major initiatives included more than 4,900 sustainability-related activities. Of these, we undertook over 3,000 school activities such as composting, tree planting, native nesting-box building and frog pond construction. Support for organisations such as  Share the Dignity and  Women’s Refuge New Zealand continued, with in-store collections for women and children impacted by homelessness and domestic violence. Bunnings Australian stores helped to collect over 138,000 handbags with personal and sanitary items and New Zealand stores accepted donations of more than 4,400 gifts for children in refuges during the Christmas period. Community education and awareness campaigns were also a priority with active support for the Parent to Parent Safe Squares driveway safety campaign in New Zealand, and bushfire, extreme weather and home safety campaigns in Australia.
