Wesfarmers has long held the belief that to have a healthy business, you must have strong, vibrant communities in which to live and work. As a large, national organisation, we recognise the importance of our community engagement at a local level, and we invest in areas which we believe contribute to building long-term cohesion, leadership and innovation.
Wesfarmers is committed to supporting communities through direct funding, sponsorships and in-kind support.
In 2011/12, our businesses contributed a combined total of $72.24 million in community partnership support.
Our approach to community support
Each of our businesses operates autonomously, and therefore run their own community partnership programs. A wide range of community initiatives across Australia and New Zealand are supported by our businesses, including land care and conservation projects, welfare and community organisations assisting people in need, surf lifesaving and many local schools and sporting clubs.
Wesfarmers Limited is also committed to supporting our local communities and community organisations.
Our partnership program is focused on four key areas: arts and innovation, Indigenous communities, medical health and research; and education and community.
