Community partnerships

Wesfarmers has long held the belief that to have a healthy business, you must have strong, vibrant communities in which to live and work. As a large, national organisation, we recognise the importance of our community engagement at a local level, and we invest in areas which we believe contribute to building long-term cohesion, leadership and innovation.

Wesfarmers is committed to supporting communities through direct funding, sponsorships and in-kind support.

Across the Group, we directly contributed $44.6 million to community organisations in 2013/14, as well as facilitating donations from customers and employees to the value of $50.8 million.

Our approach to community support

Each of our businesses operates autonomously, and therefore runs its own community partnership programs. Our businesses support a wide range of community initiatives across Australia and New Zealand, including social welfare, health, education and young people and arts and culture. Our Wesfarmers Limited community partnerships program is focused on four key areas: arts and innovation, Indigenous communities, medical health and research; and education and community.
